An article is shorter than a book and focusses on a specific topic. It usually is a piece of writing, by an expert in a field of study, that emanates from a longer research work (such as a thesis or dissertation or a research project) in which a particular aspect or finding of the research is summarised and presented for publication in a journal. Articles may also critique past research or theoretical viewpoints.
